iSTS switches are rugged, reliable and easily integrated, designed to meet the challenges of managing critical power.
The switching components in iSTS switches are solid-state thyristors which outperform their relay-based counterparts.
iSTS switches use robust thyristors, AKA silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCRs), as well as generously overrated devices to provide fast, reliable and predictable switching performance even under the most arduous power conditions.
Thyristors perform transfers so fast that the break in power is not recognised by the load, typically less than 1 millisecond and under worst-case conditions only up to 5 milliseconds (1/4 cycle) which is suitable for even the most sensitive equipment.
Compared to relay-based switches, thyristors have no moving parts which means they perform faster and will not sustain any wear from use.
iSTS switches are easy to integrate and operate within different types of critical power system topologies.
iSTS switches are fully compatible with all sine wave sources including load side transformers, green energy offline UPS systems, mains power and generators, with up to 15% THDV.
Scalable current & voltage ratings and flexible input-output configurations enable customisation for complete compatibility.
Connecting with Ethernet enables remote control & data acquisition through a web browser interface, email alerts and clock synchronisation using Network Time Protocol (NTP).
Connectivity is also available using SNMP and Modbus TCP/IP. Serial ports support Modbus RS-232 and RS-485.
All models (except Model A1) incorporate a maintenance bypass allowing for continuous power during servicing in the field.
The iSTS system allows for manual control while intelligent automated functions ensure that connected equipment receives steady, good quality power.
Easy-to-use onboard user interfaces feature one-touch transfer buttons and preferred source selections in addition to graphic displays that provide a clear overview of the integration environment, statuses, settings and event history.
The two incoming lines and output lines are constantly monitored, if power degradation is detected the system will automatically transfer the load to a stable source and prevent all transfers to the unstable source.
The system keeps the user informed of fault conditions with audible & visual alarms and email alerts. All events are recorded in real-time or with a synchronised system clock using Network Time Protocol (NTP).
The internal power quality monitoring circuits are double redundant for protection against power failure.
iSTS switches feature rugged and robust hardware, designed to endure tough environmental and electricalconditions.
iSTS switches are equipped to endure poor power quality conditions, with generously overrated components for high fault current tolerance.
The switching circuits are segregated and run independently of the logic components. This means there are no single points for failure and switching functionality will be preserved even if the system is affected by extreme power faults.
Reliability is further increased with double and triple redundant power supplies and segregated buses for all models.
iSTS switches are built to minimise maintenance in tough environment conditions, with large operating temperature margins and high IP rated enclosures that protect against dust and moisture.
Models either come standard with, or have the option of an IP rated decal interface which further improves the resistance against environmental pollutants.
